NPS East celebrated Reading Week with a series of vibrant assemblies for Grades 1 to 9 from June 23rd to 27th, 2025. Each session was thoughtfully crafted to foster a love for literature, spark creativity, and build public speaking skill.
The week began with Grades 7 to 9 exploring the theme ‘Characters Who Spoke to the World.’ Students brought iconic historical and literary figures to life such as Martin Luther King Jr., Mark Antony, Jawaharlal Nehru, and the Ancient Mariner through powerful speeches that showcased the art of oration.
Grades 4 to 6 participated in two engaging assemblies. The first, ‘Our Contemporary Indian Writers in English,’ featured student-led introductions to Indian authors, a literary quiz, and choir tribute. The second, ‘When Worlds Collide: A Genre Party!’ brought various literary genres alive through creative role plays, deepening students’ understanding of storytelling diversity.
The celebrations concluded with the youngest learners, Grades 1 to 3, in a delightful assembly themed ‘British Tales: From Classics to Rhymes.’ Students dressed as famous British authors for an ‘Author’s Walk,’ shared fun facts, recited rhymes, and joyfully affirmed their love for books.
Throughout the week, students across grades took the Reading Pledge and launched the Word Wall initiative adding one new word to their classroom board daily, which they will integrate into their growing vocabulary. The Reading Week successfully united the school in celebrating literature, encouraging students to explore the written word with enthusiasm and confidence.
