Special Assembly – 6A – Onam

Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala is celebrated across the country with great zest and fervour. The special assembly by students of 6A at NPS East brought to fore the multiple facets of the 10-day long festival. The story behind Onam, commemorating King Mahabali and Vamana; Onam Sadhya, the traditional Kerala feast and Onam Sports like Puli kalli were depicted by students.

Students made floral decorations or the Pookallam on the stage and stated its importance. The Thiruvathira dance performance by the students highlighted the beauty, spirituality and cultural richness of the festival. The traditional Vallam kalli or Boat race song of Kerala evoked a sense of pride and happiness. The assembly concluded with the entry of King Mahabali, who blessed everyone with prosperity and success. The students were acquainted with the rich cultural heritage of Kerala, God’s own Country, fostering a sense of unity and peace among them.
